Algihaz Contracting completed the fastest ever construction of a power substation for King Faisal Hospital in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

King Faisal Hospital Substation

The project, requiring construction of a 110/13.8kv substation, including the building, sub-line equipment, installation, testing and commissioning, was completed in 14 months – 10 months ahead of schedule.

The purpose of the new substation for King Faisal Hospital was to improve the power supply to the hospital, which had recently constructed a new building and needed increased capacity. A fast-track project from the outset, one of the major challenges for Algihaz was the requirement to supply temporary power to the building in case of delays.

Keys to Algihaz’s success on the project included:

Concentration of key resources on the project – 2 daily shifts of a 70-person electrical team

Meeting milestones – rapid finalizing of civil works allowed time for early testing and commissioning

Client support – a positive relationship with the client expedited the approvals process

Not only did Algihaz Contracting complete the construction of the King Faisal Hospital Substation prior to the schedule and within budget, they delivered the project with zero punch list.
